Horrible Bosses and Easy A Trailers by Sara Stifanos

The trailer starts off just like any other trailer, with the green screen by the Motion Picture Association of America, INC, which is a 'certification of the trailer'. The next frame is a logo of Warner Bros. Pictures, who are distributing the film, then flips over to the logo of New Line Cinema, who are the studio behind the film. They both have the same colour scheme blue and white which indicates that they are working together to promote this company. This all happens in the first five seconds of the trailer, then content of the film is cut down to display its best and most comedic parts to entice the audience. However, the teaser trailer that I found on Youtube did not end like most other trailers with a title frame with the production credits displayed. The teaser trailer for Horrible Bosses ends abruptly, the scene switches back to the bar with a waitress walking, there is non-digetic sound: Jason Bateman is mid-sentence and there is music in the background. The whole trailer is fifty-seven seconds long and is just one of many teaser trailers available of Horrible Bosses.

The trailer is in a linear order, it goes through the scenes in the same order as the it does in the film. It starts off with Jason Batemen having a conversation his 'psycho' boss, Kevin Spacey, at work. Kevin Spacey has his back to Jason Bateman, so the camera cuts between shots of them having a conversation. Continuity editing is the dominant style of editing throughout this trailer, this scene between Jason Bateman and Kevin Spacey is an example. Kevin Spacey asks Jason Bateman if he would like a drink, an alcoholic drink, Jason Bateman responded by reminding Kevin Spacey it's 8:00AM, in a shot-reverse-shot sequence. The scene is now in a bar, the shot starts off with a girl picking up two cocktails of the bar and walking away. The three main characters are not visible on the screen but there voices can be heard, this is until the camera pans the room to find the three characters seated at a table. There are over the shoulder shots used to display two of the men at a time. The next scene in a dentist's examining room, Charlie Day is there with his 'maneater' boss Jennifer Aniston and a patient lying on a dentist's chair in between them

I enjoyed the Horrible Bosses teaser trailer, it helped give me an idea of what the rest of the film is about. The trailer has some really funny parts to it this will help to attract people to watch the rest of the film. It was fast paced because it didn't linger to long on one character at a time but switched between the characters when you found out what each of their issues are. You see it focus on three main characters and the problems they each face at work. The audience sees each character in their distinctly different work environments but also come together at the end of the day, at a bar, to moan about their employers. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell are just some of the many famous actors and actress' taking part in this film, with the exception of Jamie Foxx, they were all included in the trailer. By putting all of them in the trailer, this attracts different audience members because each actor has a different fan base because they come from different types if genres.

The trailer starts off just like any other trailer, with the green screen by the Motion Picture Association of America, INC, which is a 'certification of the trailer'. The next frame however is not not the is not the logo of the distribution company or the studio behind the film. The trailer goes straight into scenes from the film, the logo of the distribution company, Screen Gems, is shown in between the scenes. The Easy A trailer is a full-length trailer unlike the one for Horrible Bosses which was a teaser trailer. The trailer includes a title frame displaying the actors and actresses names written one under the other in a white font on a black background, but the letter 'a' is positioned in the middle of the frame and written in a red font. After this a few more scenes are displayed then another title frame with 'Easy A' in the middle of the screen, again the 'a' being written in red. The trailer end with the production credits, then another title frame displaying the films website which is the film slogan 'LetsNotAndSayWeDid.com' making the trailer two minutes and thirty-two seconds long.

The first scene of the trailer shows, Emma Stone, the main character of the film adjusting the video camera she is using to record herself, this provides an internal digetic sound, because the audience the audience are the only ones who can see her. the are various shots such as establishing shots, twin shots and close-ups used so the audience can understand the story better. There are several well know songs used in the film, such as 'Pokerface by Lady Gaga and 'The Show by Lenka', to the audience on their feet. In my opinion, I think the songs were a perfect match to the scenes they played them over. 'Pokerface' especially being a good pick because it was so fitting for the film, Emma Stone is lying, saying she did something when she hasn't.
