As we were doing some further research into our movie to get some more ideas on what we can do and how we can improve on our work we came across a film that was similar to our film in bringing a ’macho’ character to putting a feminine side to him. This film was ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan’.
The film is basically about an Israeli soldier called Zohan, who is actually the best the army has, he doesn’t need anyone else apart from himself to help him when he has to fight someone. This is the masculine side to him, however this soldier is tired of his job and he wants to do something new with his life he has a secret passion similar to our character Alan. Zohan’s secret desire is to become a hairdresser however when he tells his parents they just laugh at him thinking that he was just messing around with them.
Zohan that night cries in him room saying ‘I just want to make everybody silky smooth’ and decides that he is going to run away to America, the places where dreams can come true, but when he arrives he meets many people who have also run away to the country for similar reasons but failed in achieving their goals and ambitions he feels a little down hearted. However with the support from one of his friends he succeeds in finding a job in a hairdresser, this is when his problems begins, because the once confident ladies man find’s out that he loses his touch when he falls for his boss, who is his previous enemies sister.
Our character Alan also has a similar problem he wants to be a Drag Queen yet unlike Zohan he doesn’t have the courage to tell anyone especially not his friends and this is where all his problems begin trying to live a life with two different identities the identity that his friends expect him to live and the identity which he wants to embrace and become.
I couldn't stop myself from laughing while watching this movie. It was so refreshing that whenever I feel low I watch this film.
